Patrick Michaud, a native of Madawaska, ME received his B.M. in Music Education from the University of ME in 1983 where he studied trumpet with Don Stratton. He has also studied conducting with Curvin Farnham, Richard Costiglione and Anthony Maiello. He has been in Music Education for 32 years having taught in MSAD # 21 in Dixfield, ME for 2 years and presently teaches in RSU # 22 where he directs the Hampden Academy Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Jazz Ensemble, R&B Project and also teaches Music Theory, Music Industry, African Drumming in addition to Kindergarten and 1st grade Classroom music at Smith School. He has commissioned several works for Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble at both the high school and middle school level. He has directed and founded the Pat Michaud Big Band, Combo and Maine Street R&B Revue. He has served on the Maine Music Educator’s Association Executive Board as Band Vice-President and served as host of the Maine All-State and State Instrumental Jazz Music Festivals. He also serves as a guest conductor and adjudicator for various music festivals throughout the State. He resides in Hampden with his wife Jesse. Together, the have raised three children - Rachel, a Packaging Design Artist in NYC - Renée, an Art Therapy Major at the Univ. of ME and Jacob, a Jazz Studies drum major at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ.
