Dr. Evanoff, Hampden Academy chemistry teacher, recently led a cyanotyping lab with his students. This hands-on activity provided a unique opportunity for students to explore the chemistry behind the cyanotype process while enjoying time outdoors. It was a fun and engaging way to bring science to life and demonstrate how chemistry can be found in the world around us.

Members from the French Honor Society had their induction ceremony on Thursday, May 21st. These members meet monthly and plan fun activities for the French club. They also organized a successful Bake Sale during the week of midterm exams and are promoting francophone culture in our community.

Congratulations to Sam, Desirae, Izzy and Andy, our newest members of SHF. Congratulations to Paige, Meredith and Alice for transmitting the torch of enthusiasm to the next generation.

Ben Johnson, the 2025 Penobscot County Teacher of the Year and a finalist for 2026 Maine State Teacher of the Year, has received national recognition from the American Classical League for his outstanding contributions to Latin education through innovative technology-based learning resources used by students and educators around the world.

We are proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of our students at the United Technologies Center Awards Ceremony and National Technical Honor Society Induction.

We also celebrate the many UTC award recipients whose hard work, leadership, perseverance, and technical excellence earned recognition in their respective programs. Your dedication to learning and developing career-ready skills is truly inspiring.

These accomplishments reflect the commitment, talent, and determination of the Class of 2026. We are incredibly proud of all of our students and look forward to seeing what they achieve next!

Sgt. Monroe of the Maine Forest Service visited the Commercial Drones class and delivered an informative and engaging presentation about how drones are used in his work. He plans to return to lead an outdoor mapping mission and a simulated search-and-rescue exercise with students. As students prepare to take their drone license test, Sgt. Monroe inspired them by demonstrating how drones are used in real-world situations.

Exchange students Mari, Rachel, and Luis have been a wonderful addition to the Hampden Academy community. They have embraced every opportunity to engage in both academics and extracurricular activities at HA, impressing us with their enthusiasm and involvement. All three students shared that the teachers at HA have been truly amazing.
