Acafellas

This is a an acapella group for tenor, baritone, and bass voices that sings a variety of genres and performs at some HA music events . Students are invited to join if they are members of one of the choir classes at HA.

Beekeeping Club

HA Beekeepers work with our expert Beekeeping Mentor to introduce students to this amazing hobby. We provide all the necessary safety equipment and tend to our very own HA hives that are situated on the periphery of our school campus. We also harvest and market our very own honey, make lip balms and teach various aspects of small business ownership. All our profits go back into the club to purchase supplies and equipment. This club meets in the fall and spring.

Civil Rights Team

Help us to improve the culture of HA by promoting equity, inclusion, and empathy through various projects and campaigns centered around the six categories recognized by the Attorney General of Maine (race & skin color, national origin & ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation). All are welcome!

Dirigo State

DIRIGO STATE is a program designed to provide experiential instruction in the
principles of state government. You will spend a week participating in the same political and
governmental process as citizens and public officials of the State of Maine. This is an experiential learning program, and you will be encouraged to ask questions, speak your mind, and participate. This is only open to HA Juniors and only a few students will be sponsored by local American Legion groups to attend.

Drama Club

Everyone is welcome to attend Drama Club meeting, no matter their experience level. During meetings, we work on various performing skills from projection to improvisation. All you need to bring is yourself!

Envirothon

Envirothon is a nation wide natural resources problem solving competition. Students compete in teams of 3-5 to test their hands on knowledge of forestry, wildlife, aquatics, soils and an annual current issue. No prior knowledge or experience is required and all are welcome!

ESports

Kids will come in after school to practice particular ESports games picked out for us by the MPA. No equipment needed, no experience required.

French Club

Everyone is welcome at French Club, students are not required to take French to attend. We do a variety of activities connected to French culture: last year we played games (inside and outside) , did crafts, karaoke, cooking and celebrated holidays from French-speaking countries.

JCL is Latin club for students of Latin and Classical Humanities. We engage in statewide conventions and have local celebrations of the ancient world.

Key Club

Key Club is a service organization sponsored by Hampden Kiwanis. We volunteer in both the outside community and our school community. Anyone can join! The service requirement is 20 hours of volunteering for the year.

Freshman Math Team (grade 9)

A TI-30X is required and will be used during the Special and Team Rounds for each meet. No previous math team experience is required to participate in Freshmen Math Team.

Practices will take place before the Fall, Winter, and Spring Meets and meet either before of after school in Room 232. (grade 9)

Robotics

Robotics club meets every Monday & Wednesday from 2-4 from September to February. The club is open to all students and we compete in 3 to 4 Saturday competitions during the year and attend the State Championship if teams qualify. We start meeting again in May after we find out what the new game competition will be for the following year.

Spanish Club

Everyone is welcomed! We are a social group with activities that include: watching Spanish movies with a snack; making holiday ornaments; making piƱatas and fallas; we have cooked together and we eat at local Mexican-themed restaurants. We go to art exhibits and attend performing arts events when there is a local opportunity. We have celebrated significant dates specific to Spanish speaking cultures. We raise money for hugitforward.org to help build bottle schools in Guatemala.

Student Council

The council helps to provide student voice within the building and is made up of 20 elected members, 5 from each grade level, who help facilitate positive changes for the student body.

Tri-M Music Association

This is open to choir and band students, grades 10, 11, 12. Students apply and are reviewed by the music faculty for their scholarship, character, and service. Students must maintain at least a 93 average in their music classes and an 85 average overall. Members promote music in the school and RSU22 community through their service activities.

Unified Club

We usually meet at least 2 times a month and also have an activity or outing day each month. The club is designed to have students with and without intellectual disabilities cooperate and be meaningfully included in school activities. We encourage students to get involved.
