Important Senior Information
September 28, 2021
Greetings Parents/Guardians of Seniors and Seniors!!
This
letter is to help seniors and parents/guardians of seniors organize
dates and deadlines that are important to seniors. We high school
counselors are sending this to you because we know how busy the fall is,
and how quickly deadlines come and go. Deadlines are a crucial part of
planning for college, scholarships, the military, and the workforce.
Students who are applying to college can create an account on commonapp.org and
begin working on their Common Application for college admission. We
would suggest starting the application now, and then counselors can help
your student with the parts they are not sure of after the add/drop
period ends. Please also have students keep track of their login
information for the Common App and College Board accounts. This is
critical in order for counselors to help answer questions during senior
meetings, as counselors do not have access to passwords.
Students
who are planning to enter the military must contact a recruiter for the
branch they are interested in. Here is the most up to date list we
have for area recruiters by branch.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 is our Military Day, and we will have
recruiters from various branches setting up tables in the multipurpose
room from 8:00-10:30 am.
Below
you will find a list of key dates for seniors and families to be aware
of. Please mark them on your calendar as the fall will be a very busy
time of year! In addition, here is a link to the Class of 2022 Google Calendar where
we will post when college admissions counselors and military recruiters
are coming to the School Counseling Office to meet with students, and
we will also post important dates and deadlines.

SCHOLARSHIPS -
April 12, 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians and Seniors:
Each year during commencement exercises Hampden Academy awards many scholarships to graduating seniors. The scholarships being referred to in this letter, are the local scholarships that are chosen by the Hampden Academy Scholarship Committee. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 every senior will receive two emails on their school email account (from Jill Kenney). One provides the link to the scholarship descriptions (please note that scholarships and amounts listed are subject to change) and the other provides the link to the online application. The application is a Google Form that students will complete electronically. If you do not have access to the internet, please call 862-3971.
Please have your student complete the application by the deadline of 11:59pm Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
All students are encouraged to apply regardless of their financial situation. Some of the scholarships are awarded on academic merit or other criteria, and are not based solely on financial need. Please review each scholarship, its provisions, and special criteria. Please note, some scholarships require an essay or additional information. If your student is submitting an essay, please be sure to have him/her indicate which scholarship the essay is for. Not all scholarships require an essay.
To be considered for one or all scholarships, only one application needs to be completed. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2022. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY LATE APPLICATIONS.
Sincerely,
Jill Kenney
Scholarship Chairperson
